As a little kid, I spent a lot of time in Whitnall Park with my parents and grandparents. My story at Wehr began with an internship that developed into becoming a grant writer for the Accessibility Project where we raised over $30,000. During this time I helped kick-start the social media era at the Nature Center and since have been managing and growing the social media accounts until stepping down from that role in 2019. I was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Wehr Nature Center, Inc. on January 20, 2020 with the goal of collaborating with the staff, board members and volunteers as they continue to deliver on their mission of inspiring current and future generations to explore and value the natural world. Wehr is a hidden gem within Whitnall Park that not many people know of! From the wetlands, grasslands, woodlands to the popular lake loop trail that follows the shoreline of Mallard Lake to where it flows over a beautiful waterfall into the Root River. Don't forget about the fully accessibile amphitheater and miles of boardwalk, there is something for everyone at Wehr!
During these challenging times, the need for nature, resilience and community is crucial. Please join me in supporting the Wehr Nature Center: A place for all seasons, a place for everyone.
